![]() My latest adventure took me to Colorado Springs. Myself and another associate had a the opportunity to stay at The Broadmoor resort and spa for a conference. This iconic resort set in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains is stunning. It's rich history and beautiful surroundings made it hard to go inside for any meetings. We stayed in the West Building and right outside our room was a gorgeous view of the golf course with a backdrop of the mountains. We had a double bed room it had that wonderful traditional feel with a large bathroom. The room was easily over 450 sq ft. I could go on with all the bells and whistles but really what made this resort stay for me was the staff. The staff are happy and kind. From the bellman to the conference center workers. They all wore smiles and addressed you as you looked their way. It was comforting. Anything we needed they responded quickly and answered us promptly. This resort is large. There is a lot to it and there are a lot of folks working there. So I believe they have a good thing with their staff going. If the staff is happy then the guests will be happy. The morning before the conference started we took a tour of Colorado Springs and went to the Garden of the Gods. This is a must for anyone going out that direction. We were lucky enough to have a great day with lots of blue skies. So we got some great pictures. The Broadmoor is expanding. It is working on renovating and adding onto its west buildings. We were scheduled to go see the new villas at Emerald Lake, however the earlier rains this year had washed out the roads and they were not able to get us up there safely. This new area up on the mountain is one that I think will be a real draw for private family adventures or smaller corporate functions. It truly will be your rugged but luxurious lodging, with everything from fly fishing to hiking and when the guests are wanting to go to the spa or come down for a nice dinner they have full access to the main Broadmoor property. I recommend this resort for large conferences. There is some walking to take into consideration at The Broadmoor Conference center but it was easy to get around and clean. The food we had at our sessions was very good. And again the wait staff were very nice. For those of you that attend conferences as I do know that those that wait on us while we are in these large conferences sometimes are not the nicest, can be pushy, or just down right mean. We did not see or experience that here. The wait staff was kind and again had smiles! For these reasons I do recommend The Broadmoor for conferences. The setting is beautiful, the atmosphere is inviting, the food is very good (and I did not even talk about the restaurants on property-FANTASTIC!), lodging was luxurious, and staff are warm and friendly. A great conference and stunning location are a win-win for this property.
